Test Benson on your store
See Benson catch a simulated coupon pop-up on your own store in a few seconds. Nothing is stored, and only you can see it.
You don't have to wait for a real shopper with a coupon extension. A test shows you the whole thing on your own store, in your own browser.
What a test does#
- In your dashboard, open See it yourself and click Open test.
- Your store opens in a new tab.
- After a moment, a pop-up labelled Simulated coupon pop-up appears.
- It looks like a coupon extension would to your shoppers.
- Only you can see it. Your shoppers never do.
- Benson's real detector recognises it, the same way it recognises a real extension.
- Benson's real blocker then hides it, the same way it would hide a real one.
- A small strip at the bottom of the tab narrates each step: the pop-up appeared, Benson recognised it, Benson hid it.
- Your dashboard shows each step as it happens, marked Test.
The test runs even if blocking is off on your site. It never changes your settings.
If Benson also spots a real coupon extension in your browser during the test, the strip tells you its name.
Password-protected and development stores#
Shopify development stores, and stores with a password page, drop the test link when they ask for the password.
- Enter your store password in the tab that opened.
- Go back to your dashboard and use Copy test link.
- Paste the link into the same tab and open it again.
Your browser remembers the password, so the second visit goes straight to your store and the test starts.
Not seeing anything?#
Your dashboard shows these tips if the test hasn't started after a short wait.
Benson isn't live on your store yet#
The test needs Benson installed. Finish the install step first. On Shopify, turn on App embeds → Benson in your theme editor and click Save.
An ad or privacy blocker is in the way#
Blockers in your own browser can stop the test. Open the test link in a private window with extensions turned off.
Your store served a cached page#
Caching plugins and CDNs can serve an old copy of your page. Reload the tab once, or purge the cache and open the test link again.
The link expired#
Each test link works for 30 minutes. Open a new test from your dashboard.
Nothing is stored#
A test is for your eyes only.
- Test sessions are never stored.
- They never count toward your plan's usage.
- They never appear in your reports, digests or attribution.
- Nothing is written to your cart or your orders.
- Nothing is saved in your browser's storage.
- Test items appear in your live feed while you watch, then vanish when you reload.
- The test link expires after 30 minutes.
A shopper who gets hold of an old link sees your store as normal. Benson ignores a test link unless it confirms the link is current and belongs to your store.
