What Phia does on your store
Phia compares fashion prices, applies coupons at your checkout and earns affiliate commission on the order. A researcher alleged it fired affiliate links without a shopper's click for about seven months; Phia says it removed those features on 7 July 2026.

Where does it get your codes?
Phia's App Store listing says it applies the best coupons at checkout automatically, including exclusive codes only available to its users.[Apple App Store, Oct 2026] (opens the source) No Phia page explains where its codes come from.
How does it make money from your orders?
Phia's terms say it takes part in affiliate programs and networks and may earn commission from the retailer or network.[Phia, Oct 2026] (opens the source) Bloomberg observed its affiliate links running through impact.com, CJ, Rakuten and Awin on more than 50 major retail sites, including Walmart, Nike and Zara.[Bloomberg via The Business of Fashion, Jul 2026] (opens the source) If it's in your affiliate program, an order it touched can be credited to it under last-click attribution, whoever actually sent the shopper.
impact.com suspended Phia from its marketplace and reprocessed unpaid actions credited to it between 20 June and 29 July 2026, reattributing them to the right publisher or refunding the brand. It didn't say what happens to earlier payments.[Business Insider, Jul 2026] (opens the source) Phia says its existing impact.com partnerships resumed on 29 July.[Business Insider, Jul 2026] (opens the source)
What does it do in a shopper's session?
Benjamin Edelman alleged that a Phia setting fired affiliate links with no shopper action, mostly at the cart or checkout, from 13 December 2025 for about seven months.[Benjamin Edelman, Jul 2026] (opens the source) In his tests it ran on iOS and stayed off for Chrome, so a desktop check would have missed it.[Benjamin Edelman, Jul 2026] (opens the source) In one test, he reports, Phia logged that a competing affiliate already had a cookie and still didn't stand down.[Benjamin Edelman, Jul 2026] (opens the source) His follow-up alleged that on mobile, closing Phia's pop-up or tapping outside it fired the affiliate link, and that it refreshed its cookie when shoppers came back to a store.[Benjamin Edelman, Aug 2026] (opens the source)
Phia says the features that caused misattribution were removed on 7 July 2026, that it's reviewing transactions and issuing reversals to brands, and it disputes the 'cookie stuffing' label.[TechCrunch, Aug 2026] (opens the source) No lawsuit or charge against Phia was found as of 17 October 2026; one law firm says it's investigating potential claims.[Shub Johns & Holbrook LLP, Aug 2026] (opens the source)
Its iOS app, which adds a Safari extension, had about 22,790 ratings in October 2026.[Apple App Store, Oct 2026] (opens the source) Its privacy policy says the extension can detect a completed checkout on a supported retailer and record the order details shown at checkout or on the confirmation page.[Phia, Oct 2026] (opens the source)
What does it cost you?
Every order where it applies a code gives away the discount, and the shopper was usually already at your checkout with a full basket. If it's in your affiliate program, the same order can also pay it commission under last-click attribution, on top of the discount, whoever actually brought the shopper.
So the cost is the discount plus any commission on orders that would have happened anyway, and the codes it spreads keep working until you replace them.

What Benson does about it
- Benson's detector doesn't recognise Phia yet. The code check and attribution integrity still cover what it does to your codes and commission.
- Attribution integrity: flags orders where an extension's affiliate click landed after the shopper arrived from someone else.

Can you get your store removed?
